MIDNIGHT MAGIC - BEAM ME UP

Midnight Magic Cover

When Midnight Magic popped up on Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space ‘Best of 2009’ they really should’ve had a record out. They also hould’ve had something available for download when they appeared on a recent Best of Myspace U.K. And it probably would’ve been a good idea to have something in the shops when Patrick Adams of Waves at Night told his readers that Midnight Magic was “going to be a very hot prospect for ’10.” But they didn’t. Not the best idea. No: not the best idea at all. The best idea was for them to release their first single, ‘Beam Me Up’, on Permanent Vacation Records this summer—And that wasn’t even their idea! We have to thank the Germans for finally putting an end to the madness.

Midnight Magic appears on stage as Tiffany Roth, Morgan Wiley, Carter Yasutake, W. Andrew Raposo, Max Goldman, Nick Roseboro, Caito Sanchez, Jason Disu and Andrew Frawley. They are servants of a secret fire—a psychedelic-soul army inspired by electro, funk, and disco from all around the world. You may recognize some of them from when they played in ‘Hercules & Love Affair’ or from the myriad of DFA Records releases on which they are featured.

Based out of an abandoned Jazz factory in Northern Brooklyn, Midnight Magic would do well to remind you of their forthcoming release on Permanent Vacation featuring remixes by Gavin Russom, Jacques Renault, and the enigmatic Tim Goldsworthy (known to the night creatures as The Loving Hand). But Midnight Magic can’t do that because they are currently scoring a Dario Argento film on the moon. Apparently, there is very good boogie up there.

The Revenge: this sounds like a classic to me
Rob da Bank: wicked..
James Holden: this is awesome, all of it
Faze Action: Woah what a great release, loving all the mixes, but loving the Jacques Renault mix brilliant a future classic
Aeroplane : wooow! Fantastic release! Love Love Love the Jacques Renault remix! All the other mixes are great too!
Roy “the Wurst” Dank: Jacques’ mix is massive! Quite possibly his best solo mix yet!

TODD TERJE - REMASTER OF THE UNIVERSE

055-2_300

It’s Time For The Terjelator!

Have you ever tried looking for the “fizbalearic caramba dub disco” section in a record shop? Ever found it? Well, after this release it shouldn’t be a problem, because the lean, mean remix machine of the north is finally compiling his finest work on this two disc compilation. And just to be a nice chap he also remade half of his catalogue as a bonus. “Remaster Of The Universe” contains his best remixes, his worst re-edits, half a dozen exclusive re-remixes plus more. Cz-cz-czech it out!

The 2-CD Digipack box includes one cd with a special DJ mix by Todd Terje and one cd with a selection of Todd Terje’s best remixes. Also available is a 12″ including the Todd Terje Remix for M’s “Pop Muzik”, plus cover versions of Ace Of Bass’ “All That She Wants” and Cajmere’s “Perculator”. The limited 7″ features a cover version of Todd Terje’s own club hit “Eurodans”, and a great bollywood style disco track called “Surfin in Surat”.

JOHN TALABOT - MATILDA'S DREAM

JOHN TALABOT

2009 was quite a frenetic year for John Talabot. From scratch he became one of the biggest hopes for electronic music scene in Spain. “My Old School”, his debut on the Permanent Vacation, gave him instant recognition in the electronic galaxy and James Murphy, Âme and Aeroplane were including his music in their sets. On Hivern, his own label, John Talabot released the now mythical “Sunshine”, which has become one of the songs of the summer and Philip Sherburne has included the track as one of the best maxis of 2009 on Pitchfork (the website also states he’s one of the biggest names in the current house music scene).
In the meantime, he’s been busy doing remixes for bands such as everybody’s darling The XX, Glasser, Delorean or on Francesco Tristano’s Aufgang project and of course his massive remix for Zwicker, which was also included on the Permanent Vacation Compilation “If this is house I want my money back “ plus his remix for Al Usher, which was used by Ewan Pearson for his latest mix cd on Kompakt.

So finally, here are his new original tracks for 2010: “Mathilda’s Dream” and “La Ninya”. The title track gets also remixed by Runaway’s Jacques Renault from NYC. This EP is a first teaser for Talabot’s forthcoming album.

LAUER - DELTA NRG

LAUER

Phillip Lauer is a Frankfurt based producer, musician and DJ and a name to be remembered. Growing up with a strict musical diet of hip hop and punk rock, Phillip soon also discovered the amenities of electronic music, sparked by releases of the label Ladomat and the legendary club Robert Johnson (where Phillip runs his own Brontosaurus label night).

We are very happy to re-release an out of stock pearl of the Brontosaurus Catalogue, Delta NRG, a perfectly created piano house/disco hybrid, which, ever since its first release, is sth you might call a secret weapon for the dancefloor. Delta NRG is also accompanied by a beautiful MOCK&TOOF remix, and there is also a new Lauer track called “MTX9 SD Beta” on this 12″.
